Karen Snyder, Owner & Lead Consultant, Concordia Consulting

As human resource leaders it’s our job to hear about employees’ workplace drama and conflict. Our colleagues come into our offices whirling and swirling, expecting us to solve their people problems. Sometimes, even worse, our colleagues don’t tell us what is brewing and serious problems can erupt. As business partners, it’s our job to know when to escalate, when to mitigate, and when to ignore conflict. What are the situations that arise that need greater policies, procedures, and perhaps even formal investigation? What situations arise that call for an experienced professional to create calm? And do you know when to simply ignore the situation?

Key Learning Objectives

Participants will develop skills for working through conflict and improving dynamics at work and for channeling disagreement for positive outcomes. After participating in this program, HR professionals will be able to:

1)  Recognize that conflict can be an asset and is not always a liability.
2)  Determine when to solve, escalate, and ignore conflict.
3)  Help leaders in their organizations address employee issues by channeling conflict.
4)  Model effective conflict resolution techniques and improve dynamics at work.
